After finishing at the MNC I joined Decca Radar as a tech in their post development lab's in Chessington Surrey for a while before getting a job with Decca Navigator as a tech on a luxury 84 Grt yacht they operated as a floating mobile sales room. Having got my bart into the "pond" started work as an R/O in earnest late in 1980 with Lauro lines on the bulk carriers Pallade and Aretusa. Moved on to working the reefer trade with Salen's on the Snow Hill and Snow Storm in 1982 before joining Jardines in Hong Kong and sailing on the Nandu Arrow and /Hawk Arrow/ from 1984 to 1987. Left the Merchant in 87 and joined Sperry Marine in Wokingham as a service tech for a while before joining Chubb to work in the fire alarm industry. Married in 94 and emigrated to Australia in 1997.
