Subject: Nice to see the College lives on!!

Having received copies of e-mails sent from Andy Friis, I thought it was about time I dropped you a line!

Firstly the web site is certainly very informative and brings back a lot of memories! It really is a shame that it doesn't exist anymore.

As Andy has already told you I was in the same year as him at Greenhithe completing the MRGC/HTC course in the summer of 1981.

Since then I first worked for a small called Chernikeef Instruments Ltd who manufactured ships data logs, as this seemed a bit limited, I joined the Met. Police as a Radio Technician in November 1981 and stayed with them until August 1983. [Ref]

I then spent two years at college in Brighton studying and obtaining a HND in Electronic Engineering and Computer Technology. This was then followed by a period as a Development Engineer with Rediffusion Radio Systems, designing and developing military radio equipment. In April 1988 I moved from Crawley to Aberystwyth to form and run a small manufacturing radio telemetry equipment. This was called Minisig Systems Ltd. My dad and I ran this successfully untill 1994 when we sold it to a based in Gateshead called Joyce Loebl Ltd. Part of this sell off included a three year contract with the new owners and together with my wife and three children we moved to the North East.

In 1997 we decided that it would be better to move south and I took a job with Racal Radar Defence Systems, again based in Crawley. My last career move being made in May 1999 when I left Racal Radar Defence Systems and joined Cellular Design Services Ltd. This is a small but growing company who are involved in providing field measurements to the major Cellular Telephone operators, allowing them to improve their network performance.

On the personal front I married my wife Karen in 1989 and have three children, Ben (10), Jessica (9), and Matthew (6) and we are now living in Littlehampton.

To add a few more names to your records, from my year at MNC I can also remember the following :-

Terry Rajkuma
Rob Larkin
Peter Thomas
Peter Sermol
Ian Cheshire

There was also a coloured student by the surname of Stridharan, but I can't remember his first name or whether he completed the course.

For the following year, the one ending 1982, I can add the following names :-

Mike Simms
John Hall
Guy Hammans

From the three names listed above, I have to sadly report that John Hall is no longer with us, as he passed away in 1994.

For Lecturers names some of the following may be of interest :-

Roger Taylor
Phil Smith
Arthur Wainwright
Mr Gibson

Well I hope you find the above interesting and I will be checking the web site frequently to keep up to date with the news. As for a re-union, I would be interested, please keep me posted.

Thats all for now and keep up the good work!!
