Member notes for Nick Bacon

Blagdon School 57–59, then BGS Lower & Upper Schools 59-70. Short service commission in the Royal Navy 70-75, followed by 12 years on Merchant Ships, reaching position of Chief Officer before failing a medical due to a disc having been removed from my neck. Worked as a Cave Guide in Wookey Hole during leaves in 1979 & 1980 and helped behind the bar in the Star Hotel, Wells.
Several years as a Solicitor's Clerk, then more health problems following motorcycle accident. Worked as motorcycle courier for a year or so, then joined Corps of Commissionaires, ending up as an Area Supervisor in Bristol.
Main hobby for over 20 years was English Civil War re-enactments with the Sealed Knot. Retired as Chief of Staff, Army of Parliament in 2000. Also served as Company Secretary and Agitant General. Was very touched to have been awarded Life Membership.
Came to New York in 2001, and survived the WTC atrocity, having been inside the base of the South Tower when the second aircraft hit it.
Attended the Ivor Spencer School for Butlers, and was employed as a Butler in a private household on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
Feb 2005, I had surgery for Colon Cancer and got married to Rachel, with whom I live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
Now working as a Personal Assistant for the husband and wife owners of a jewelry business (gurhan) in the West Village.
Green Card application was approved in March 2006, so I'm now a Resident Alien.
Recently diagnosed with Coeliac Disease, so I'm getting used to a whole new dietary regimen.
