I attended MNC Greenhithe in 1977 Ė 1978 to study for my 2nd Mateís ticket. I carried the college standard at the annual seafarersí service in St Paulís Cathedral in October 1977.
After getting my ticket, I returned to sea with the Bowring Steamship Company, being promoted to Second Mate in July 1978.
I stayed with the company, and was transferred, with the ships, to Newgate Shipping, until that folded.
I then got a job with Bolton Maritime Management, and did 3 voyages with them, latterly as Chief Officer, until I failed a medical in 1987.
I set up in business as a private detective, which led directly to a job as a solicitorís clerk, which I did until 1996. Health problems following a motorcycle accident led to my losing my job, and I worked as a motorcycle courier for a while before joining the Corps of Commissionaires. I was made redundant as an area supervisor by the Corps last year, and I then attended the Ivor Spencer School for Butlers.
Iím presently on a career break, getting to know my recently discovered birth family in New York.
